Trip to Iowa

We went to Fort Dodge Iowa on June 17-19 to see Taylor's school and register him for the coming year. We flew into Des Moines and then drove to Fort Dodge. It was about an hour and half drive north. Iowa was pretty much flat and corn fields as far as the eye can see. The farms were really something to see. Very neat, with large white or red barns and equipment sheds. The land was very lush and green, with wind rows of trees around the farm houses.

Fort Dodge has a population of about 26,000, It is along the Des Moines river and has just about everything we have in Layton. The Mall however was not much to tallk about.

The school campus is small, fairly new and located on the south west side of town. The dorm rooms are typical dorm rooms with 5 to an apartment. That mean someone gets a bunk bed. We were given a warm welcome when we checked in at the campus offices and Taylor's name was posted on the campus news TV screens on the wall as a visitor for the day. The coach gave us a tour of the soccer complex and really made Taylor feel like an important part of the team. He is really going to have a good time at ICCC or as the locals say IC3.

Here is a link to the mens soccer schedule if you would like to follow the season.
